Cookie Time Is Anytime

My kids and I decided to make cookies today. I had bought the bag of ready made ingredients a while ago, but it was my son's persistant asking that made it finally happen. Although we didn't have any eggs, a kind neighbor let us have one.

Both the kids wanted to be as involved as they could. Andrew REALLY wanted to break the egg over the bowl, but had a hard time doing that. So we did that together.

After mixing the egg and butter, then it was time to add the bag of ingredients. They handled that together just fine.

After doing my part, the mixing, the kids were able to taste the dough. Yum!

Once they'd filled their tummies with a little cookie dough, it was onto the next step of putting them on the cookie sheet. They each had a couple turns, I think Maddie had more fun than Andrew. A cook in the making!

In the end, I think they turned out really well. As of 7:00pm, the kids and I haven't tried them, but according to my husband (our sweet tooth), they were pretty good. I enjoy doing things like this with my children, I guess in the hopes that they'll have a knack for it someday. God only knows!

Sisters Are Simply The Best

I can't say enough how important sisters are. And I've been blessed over and over with mine. God knew what he was doing when he put us together. Yeah, we didn't always get along growing up, but as adults, there's a different bond that we have. We've become friends, too! I was telling my husband, there was a time when my sisters and I had borrowed my dad's car to go shopping.

Now, with me being the oldest and able to drive first, I was the one that drove that day. After our shopping excursion, we figured, because Dad had let us borrow his car, we would wash it for him. To us that meant taking it through a car wash. Afterwards, we found a place that sprays a scent into the car. Now, my Dad always had an extra towel in the car so we could dry it off if we ever took it through a car wash. (Always thinking that man) So we figured we would dry it off and then vacuum, and then add the finishing touch of spraying the car with a new car scent. Boy did we ever smell up that car. We sprayed so much of it, that we about suffocated ourselves. All for the greater good! Dad was thrilled of course at his clean car, but the smell, that was another thing. I think it took a good week for that smell to really be gone.
I've got so many good memories of my sisters. And I'm excited to see what is yet to come. Love you Beth and Kate!

To Work Out Or Not To Work Out

So here's the thing. I have this wonderful workout that I do, it helps strengthen my muscles, tones my stomach and arms. I'm really happy with the results for my backside. I'd like to think I look alright in a two-piece after a month or so. But, and here it is...I'm not motivated to start doing it! Sleep deprivation is hard to deal with, and I've been dealing with it for a couple months now. I would usually work out when my kids were taking their naps, but now when I think about my time when they're asleep, it always goes to relaxing or a nap for myself. Maybe once my son is done with school for the summer, that'll kick start me into doing it. Hurry up June!

Croquet anyone?

I am happy to say that the wind did die down while we were there. My mom and kids decided to play a little bit of croquet before we had to leave. My son loves playing this. And I must admit, it can be a little addicting once you've played a game or two. My daughter couldn't quite get it how to hold the mallet, but she really did well.

Let's Go Fly A Kite!

Talk about windy! Just driving today was hard! It kept whipping my van from side to side, I was lucky there weren't any cops around, I'm sure they would've thought I was under the influence. Before we had to head over to the doctor's to have a check-up for Madison, we stopped over at my parent's house for a couple hours to kill the time. My husband and I bought the kids a kite a few weeks ago and really haven't had the right weather to try it out. Today was a good day for that. I can't remember the last time I flew a kite, no wait, I can. Andrew was about 18 mths old. That was a while ago. He even gave it a try and did a fantastic job! Madison helped me and did well, too.

My Hubby

I've been inspired by a friend to write some things down, like a question and answer-type thing, about my husband. So here we go...

How long did you date? 9 months (when you know, you know)

How did he propose? On the beach at sunset

Where is he from? England (ya I know, that's a ways from here!)

Who's taller? He is, by 5 or 6 inches

A good kisser? The BEST. He makes me weak in the knees. I'd like to think I am too, but he doesn't tell me.

Who has the temper? Honestly, we both do. But we also help one another cool down.

Handy with cars? Not really. But boy can we ever fill a mean tank of gas!

Who does the housework? I do. But every Sunday he does the laundry. I just have to put it away.

Who likes football more? Definately him. He's a HUGE Seattle Seahawks fan. Although since meeting him I do like to watch the occasional game.

Definition of a good date? He would rather go and see a movie, I prefer dinner. I like to just sit and talk with him. It's busy with two kids!

Favorite hobby? Does buying dvd's constitute as a hobby? I would rather work on my scrapbooking.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I guess it depends on the night. I go to bed before he does and if he wants to sleep on that side and I'm there, he'll just roll me over. I'm asleep, I don't know what's happening!

Patient? I'd have to say that I've got more patience than he does. He likes things there and then. I can wait for the right time.

Who pays the bills? I do pretty much. I'm home all day, and the places are closed when he gets home.

Who drives when we're together? He does, but if he's had a hard day or is just sick of driving, then I do. But according to him, I'm a crazy driver and we're all lucky to be alive when we get home. I beg to differ.

A hands-on parent? Oh definately, we both are. When he gets home, he helps with them so I can have a few minutes to myself.

Who kissed who first? He kissed me first. We were both shy at first, but he stepped up and layed one on me!

Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? It depends on the situation. If it's something that he's started, he'll admit it and move on. (not always right away, mind you) I'm the same.

Whose family do you see the most? Mine. His family lives in England. But we're hoping to visit them soon!

Who is the bigger softie? He is. He'll come home with a bouquet of flowers, just because. His cards, for whatever reason, are wonderful. I always tell him that his cards are perfect. They always say what I like to hear. Not that I'm a meanie. I like to surprise him sometimes, but he usually finds out beforehand.

Who has more siblings? We have the same. Two sisters each.

The oldest or the baby? We're both the oldest of our siblings.

Who wears the pants in the relationship? We both share in the responsibility of this home. He is the only one that makes money to support this family, and knows where it goes, but I pay the bills, take care of the kids, and share in some of the decisions. He's got a good head on his shoulders and does the absolute best he can. I'm very proud of him.

I'm glad I did this. I appreciate my husband in every way and I'm very thankful God put us together. Ours kids have a wonderful father, too!

The morning came too quickly...

I'm just so tired today. It isn't even the afternoon and I feel the need to just crash and sleep for the rest of the day. Lastnight didn't go too well. I took my kids to the park yesterday, and we didn't drive, we walked. I felt great afterwards, but that didn't last too long. I took a nap when my kids did. Unfortunately, that nap, as nice as it was earlier, hurt me more later on. I didn't get into bed lastnight until almost midnight! And I'm usually in bed around 10-10:30 because my son has school. I laid in bed lastnight, wide awake, until almost 2. I was woken up by my husband coming to bed and then later on, my son because he had had a bad dream. I'd say I slept probably 3 hours tops. But I'm at my wits end, should I take a nap when my kids are, or just try and stay awake until tonight. Oh what to do.

Here comes the sun....

Isn't God great!! This perfect day he's given us, I'm so thankful for it. The kids are taking their naps, so I thought I'd jump on here, type my thoughts and sit and relax. There's this new show on the Biography channel called "I Survived.." and I really like it. It's taped on my dvr so it's waiting for me. I hope to be able to make this blog a little more personable...just give me some time. I have an acquaintance, or friend, Anne who is going to help me. Wish me luck!

Things are looking UP

Well, I'd have to say that the day is looking better already! Good news on the car/van situation. It's going to cost a bit, but it's in God's hands and he'll see us through. And while our vehicle is in the shop, they've given us one to borrow. (and may I say it's better looking than ours!) I'm off to enjoy the sunshine!

Not A Good Day

I have to say that this day isn't going very well. I am very thankful and happy for the sunshine and warmer temps, but right at this moment I am not too happy with the inventor of cars. I'm not sure if ours is on its way out or just in need of a fixer up. Course, being that our car, well van, is a 94 should explain it all. We are happy with it. I mean it gets us from A to B. Fortunately the place where my husband is taking it will hold our check for two weeks, so that will help big time! But seeing that that is our only way of getting from A to B, having to ask for help is, well humbling. My mom is such a giving woman, she has been there when I needed a car, for pretty much anything. I'm always grateful for her, always will be. Today she's pretty busy, out and about doing errands, helping out my sister, so I'm really praying that this is something that can be quickly fixed and we won't need to bug her. God is good, he will provide!
